Practical Experience

Bachelor Thesis at Continental Automotive GmbH, Villingen-Schwenningen.

Topic: Power Supply Design and Algorithm Development for VDO-Link [September 2021 - Dezember 2021]
A modem with a 2G connection should be able to operate a limited power source, the main components being a DCDC converter, changer and battery. the DCDC converter and charger were from Texes instruments LMR43620-Q1 and BQ240xx family respectively. The battery was a custom battery supplied by Jauch Quartz GmbH.
Tasks:
  • Theoretical investigation of the PSU concept hardware
  • Characterization of lithium-ion batteries
  • Development and test of the PSU algorithm

Internship at Continental Automotive GmbH, Villingen-Schwenningen.

Topic: Data-Logger [März 2021 - August 2021]
Converting Analog signals and recording them on an SD card. The main components were a microcontroller and an FPGA.The hardware of choice are Atmel SAM E70 Xplained evaluation kit with the Atmel ATSAME70Q21 microcontroller and Nexys 3 from Digilent with an included FPGA XC6SLX16-2CSG324C by Xilinx Inc. SPI connection was etablised between microcontroller(Master) and FPGA(Slave).
Tasks:
  • Further development of project Data-Logger
  • Function test and various module tests of DTCO

Projects

KORSEL Mobile Robot

Programming (code in C) KORSEL Mobile Robot that finishes the race track as quickly as possible. The robot should be a black line (Track) and finish asap. The robot must reach be at the end of the route stop, turn around and the drive back. The hardware used for this project are Adrino Nano, IR sensor, ultrasonic sensor, etc.

Automatic temperature and humidity controller

Programming Arduino nano that uses the DH11 sensor to display temperature and humidity in the 16X2 LCD. USB fans and humidifiers working automatically when it drops below 25 ° C or 25% respectively.

ASIC (FPGA)

Programming FPGA that measures the speed of a model train with two light sensors. The PC displays the measured speed. The FPGA used for this project is Arrow MAX1000.
